Ashoka halwa is without doubt one of the hottest dishes bought at Andavar Halwa Kadai in Thiruvaiyaru in Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur district. The Ashoka halwa is the invention of Ramaiyer, who ran a lodge in Thiruvaiyaru.

Whereas it’s unknown as to why Ramaiyer selected to call it Ashoka, it’s a perception that he would have thought-about it because the king of halwas.
